The LSU Tigers had a great regular season, winning the SEC title outright and advancing to the SEC Tournament as the No. 1 seed.

However, the Tigers lost in heart-breaking fashion in their quarterfinal matchup against No. 8 Florida, ending their tourney run early. Now, they’re a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and will open their action against No. 14 seed Yale on Thursday.

In a press conference on Wednesday, star PG Tremont Waters discussed how he and his teammates are moving on after the Florida loss and dealing with the suspension of coach Will Wade (via ASAPSports.com):

All season we’ve been saying, we are a family, we are going to grow together. Keep pushing through everything, all that adversity that’s been thrown at us. But nothing has changed since the Florida game. It was a game that we lost. We didn’t execute down the stretch, and we know that we have to come together as a family even more now because we don’t have our head coach.

Coach Benford is our new head coach and everyone respects that. We totally loved the change of Coach Benford being there, Coach GH, Coach Armstrong. But like we say, we’ve just got to come together, just be one and not let anything break us apart.

The Tigers are going to be a trendy pick to lose to Yale, but Waters and his teammates are going to try their best not to let that happen.

Tune in to see if they can avoid the upset on Thursday in Jacksonville. The game tips off at 12:40 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on truTV.
