Greg Sankey believes the indefinitely postponed game between LSU and Florida “needs to be played.”

The SEC commissioner said just that during an interview with CBS broadcasters Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson during the broadcast of No. 9 Tennessee vs. No. 8 Texas A&M this afternoon.

The Tigers and Gators were scheduled to clash at 12 p.m. ET today, but the schools and the SEC announced Thursday that the game would be postponed indefinitely due to Hurricane Matthew’s imminent landfall this weekend. Sankey maintained the need for the conference to “come together” and “find the best way” to make up the game at a later date.

Sankey was asked about the decision, why the game was postponed when other games in nearby areas were played and if there was any potential make-up date for the contest. You can hear his responses in the video above.
