LSU coach Ed Orgeron said his team was angry following the loss to Florida, and that played out in impressive fashion as the Tigers knocked off No. 2 Georgia at Tiger Stadium.

“Like a true man would, stood back up and fought against a very good Georgia football team,” Orgeron said in an interview for LSUSports.net. “Total team effort.”

Part of the turning point in the game was LSU’s success on fourth down, where it went 4-for-4.

“We were going to be aggressive, we had to beat the No. 2 team in the country,” he said. “We were going to do whatever it took to beat them.”

K Cole Tracy was also perfect on field goals at 5-for-5, and Orgeron said that gives the Tigers a lot of security and confidence knowing that they can get points when they get close to the goal line.

Along with QB Joe Burrow’s play, Orgeron credited the offensive line, which helped LSU rush for 275 yards on 51 carries.

On defense, LSU forced four turnovers.

“They went after the ball,” Orgeron said. “We worked hard this week, extra, on going after the football. We made an emphasis on it. I was so pleased we got the turnovers. It turns the game around.”

LSU returns to Tiger Stadium this week for a night game against Mississippi State, and the coach said the stadium atmosphere for the Georgia game was “LSU at its best” and he challenged fans to repeat it again this week.
