What Brian Kelly said after LSU's win over Arkansas in the Battle for the Golden Boot
Brian Kelly could be coaching in an SEC Championship Game in his first season at LSU. Kelly’s Tigers stayed perfect against the SEC West, defeating Arkansas 13-10 on Saturday in Fayetteville. An Ole Miss loss to Alabama clinches the division title for the Tigers.
Saturday’s win in the Battle for the Golden Boot lacked in offensive highlights. 5-star freshman Harold Perkins carried the LSU defense with a monster game for a national audience. Perkins actually threw up before the game, Kelly revealed.
Arkansas entered the game 5-4 coming off a loss to Liberty and dropped to 5-5 on the year. Kelly wasn’t surprised that LSU got the Razorbacks’ best shot on a cold Saturday in Fayetteville. The first-year head coach is just glad the Tigers found a way to leave with the victory.
Brian Kelly: “We found a way to win. That’s really what this is about. When you play in a league like this, in particular the SEC West, find a way to win. That’s what I’m proud of. I’m proud of our guys having the mental toughness to battle and find a way to win.”

Brian Kelly: “We’re in a different realm now. We’re being hunted. We’re going to get everybody’s best shot. They understand that. We have some things to work on, but we’ll enjoy this victory and come back prepared for UAB.”
