Here are the highlights from LSU coach Les Miles’ weekly press conference on Monday following the team’s 30-16 loss to Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Miles started off the presser by talking about the autographed game-worn Leonard Fournette jersey that was auctioned. The money will be awarded to South Carolina flood relief and not to Fournette, which is within NCAA rules. A bidder has paid $101,000 in the auction that ended at 12:01 p.m. ET on Monday. Miles said it was “good for college football.”

When speaking about the loss to Alabama, Miles said the team was ready to turn the page, win or lose. He also said he’s not going to let that defeat define LSU’s season, and it looks as though one of his players also shares that sentiment.

According to Miles, one of the keys in the loss was time of possession. With the offense not able to sustain drives, the Tide controlled the ball for 39:27 to the Tigers’ 20:33. Miles also eluded to the fact that LSU next plays Arkansas, which leads the SEC in time of possession.

Miles gave tons of credit to Alabama’s defense, notably its safeties, for making plays at the line of scrimmage.

Miles also has confidence that LSU can still reach Atlanta.

Miles was asked if he needs to have a change of philosophy on the offensive side of the ball to end the program’s losing ways against Alabama. The Tigers have lost five straight to the Tide, its longest losing streak in the series since losing 11 straight from 1971-81.

Miles was also asked about the situation in Missouri that led to President Tim Wolfe resigning on Monday morning. While seemingly not knowing about the details, Miles supports the right for individuals to express their opinions and beliefs.

Miles wasn’t pleased with his special teams unit in the loss, especially on kick returns as Derrius Guice was hit hard on multiple occasions. LSU ranks 13th in the SEC in average yards per kick return this season with an average of 16.7.

Miles also gave an injury report on sophomore FB J.D. Moore, and it’s not a good one. However, he did say DE Lewis Neal only got “nicked” and shouldn’t miss any time.

Finally, Miles gave his thoughts on Arkansas’ fourth-and-25 conversion against Ole Miss that led to a 53-52 OT win over the Rebels. If anyone likes that play, you can bet it’s the Mad Hatter.
