After being ranked No. 2 in the initial College Football Rankings, LSU (8-3) concluded the season No. 20 in the final edition of the rankings released on Sunday.

The Tigers were unbeaten at 7-0 and were the only unbeaten team in the SEC when the rankings were first released in Week 10. However, that was before LSU’s 30-16 loss to Alabama led to a three-game losing streak that booted the Bayou Bengals from No. 2 to No. 9, then to No. 15 before dropping out of the rankings completely.

Last week, LSU returned at No. 21 after a 19-7 win over Texas A&M. That victory helped the Tigers cap an incredible run of consistency, tying the SEC record for consecutive seasons with at least eight wins.

The Vols also did so from 1989-2004.
