Will Wade, former LSU coach, reportedly close to landing new head coaching job
Former LSU men’s basketball head coach Will Wade is reportedly close to finding his next landing spot.
According to a report from Sheldon Mickles of The Advocate, Wade is expected to become the new face of the McNeese program. The move comes shortly after McNeese ended its season with a loss to Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in the semifinals of the Southland Conference tournament Tuesday night.
Head coach John Aiken was fired afterward by athletic director Heath Schroyer, who bears connection to Wade from earlier in his career, after Aiken posted a 22-45 overall record with the program over the past two seasons.
How Wade fares in Louisiana on the court for different team after he was fired with cause by LSU on March 12, 2022 will be something to keep an eye on.
Over nine seasons as a Division 1 head coach, Wade posts an overall record of 196-96 record and a winning percentage of .673.

My brother-in-law is a retired Div 1 college basketball coach. He said Will Wade needs assistant coaches who know the game because he’s not an X & O coach. He’s just a recruiter, oops, cheater.
Just going with the recruiter part, that’s all Dale Brown ever was and that’s all Coach Cal is now.
Rumor has it that WKU may also be interested. That’s odd considering the NCAA is still investigating him, but his crimes aren’t a big deal anymore. Now, the booster makes the strong azz offer and it’s all good.
sure, but he’ll simply look for another route to cheat. he’s a cheater. once a cheater….especially those that had zero remorse and failed at every junction in admitting/accepting fault.
Well, technically, boosters still cannot make offers.
Call it a collective. The money is now there and out in the open.
Farce is probably the better description.
It’s official. They hired him.
