ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt was incredibly impressed by what he saw from Cam Ward in Week 6.
Ward led No. 8 Miami back from a 35-18 deficit after 3 quarters on the road vs. Cal. The quarterback threw for 437 yards with 2 touchdowns and also added 15 rushing yards and a score on the ground.
SVP compared the QB to iconic horror villains with how Ward brings his team back from the dead.
“Miami was left for dead,” Van Pelt said. “And because of Cam, now, they’re in that Freddy Kreuger territory. And I’m not a horror movie aficionado. I think it was Michael Myers that ended up at the bottom of the lake.”
You can NEVER count out @CanesFootball with Cam Ward at QB

It was actually Jason Voorhees who ended up at the bottom of the lake, but you get the point. Ward has shown an ability to bring his team back from any deficit, and he may end up winning some hardware because of that.
“Nights like this, you go to New York when you do stuff like this,” explained Van Pelt. “Pretty simple.”
Of course, Van Pelt is implying that Ward will end up in New York as a Heisman finalist if he continues on this trajectory. The ESPN analyst is not off-base with bet365 listing Ward at +450 to win the Heisman, and those are the 3rd-best odds in the entire country.
The next test for Ward and the Canes will be in Week 8 against the Louisville Cardinals. The Cardinals are likely the toughest test remaining for the Canes in the regular season.
