The Big Ten has released a statement and handed down discipline to Michigan and Michigan State for each team’s involvement during a brawl in a tunnel at Michigan’s stadium.

Michigan received a public reprimand, while Michigan State was fined $100,000 and cornerback Khary Crump received a total of a 12-game suspension, which includes 4 games this season from the incident date, and 8 games next season. Seven Michigan State players received self-imposed suspensions and they have been completed.

The Big Ten added that members of both teams did not represent the level of sportsmanship that is expected from the Big Ten Conference and its member institutions.

“Our standards require that our student-athletes, coaches and staff members represent the conference, and their member institutions, with the highest level of decorum and sportsmanship,” Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren said in a statement. “We are taking disciplinary action and will continue to work with our member institutions to strengthen their gameday procedures and ensure our honored traditions.”

Michigan beat Michigan State 29-7.
