Cameron Young, Mississippi State DL, announces bowl decision and plans for 2023 season
Cameron Young is saying farewell to the Mississippi State football program.
Young has been with the team since 2018, playing in 36 games in that timespan. He would be completely out of eligibility under normal circumstances, but with 2020 counting as a “free” year due to COVID-19, he had the option to return in 2023 if he desired.
However, on Wednesday, Young revealed that he would instead enter the NFL Draft, with Jan. 2’s ReliaQuest Bowl against Illinois serving as his final collegiate game. He made the announcement on his Twitter account:

Young was credited with 34 tackles and 2.0 tackles for a loss in 12 games in 2022. He played 12 times in 2021 as well, recording 51 tackles and 2.5 TFLs. In 2019 and 2020, he combined for 18 tackles and 3.5 TFLs.
He was an in-state recruit from Meadville, Miss., signing with the program out of the class of 2018. He was considered a 3-star recruit and the No. 25 player in the state of Mississippi.
