Chris Lemonis talks Mississippi State's comeback win over Virginia in College World Series
It may have not been a dominant performance but all that matters is Mississippi State came away with the win over Virginia Tuesday night from Omaha.
The Bulldogs won the winner’s bracket matchup despite being down 4-0 in the eighth inning to rally for a 6-5 win against the Cavs.
Following the win, Mississippi State coach Chris Lemonis had this to say.
“Crazy college baseball game and that’s typical baseball. You gotta tip your hat, I thought their guy was for six, seven innings as good as a pitcher we’ve faced in the last couple of years. It was electric. We just couldn’t get on it,” Lemonis said after the game.
“Then we have a great at-bat by Scotty Dubrule and Kellum Clark gets us going. We talked to the team about it’s hard to get the last outs in Omaha, and just to keep fighting, keep fighting, get something going, and we were able to do that. We’ve been fortunate all year, our best hitter comes to the plate and he gets the big hit again. So a fun night for us.”
