Dak Prescott injury could lead to longer absence, per report
Dak Prescott was injured during the Dallas Cowboys 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week, and initially there was hope it wasn’t a serious injury.
However, after the preliminary diagnosis, there is a fear that he could truly missed extended time.
According to NFL.com reporter Jane Slater, the initial diagnosis is a partial avulsion of his hamstring tendon which is partially torn off the bone.
As the #Cowboys weigh in on Dak Prescott’s IR status, sources tell me the initial diagnosis is a partial avulsion of his hamstring tendon which is partially torn off the bone. I’m told it typically takes more than a 4 week recovery. In some cases, they let it scar over, repair…

Prescott is seeking second opinions for the injury, but the recovery time for that type of injury is traditionally around a month. On Tuesday, Jerry Jones came out and said there was an expectation that Prescott could be going to the IR list.
It has been a tough year for Prescott and the Cowboys, as they are currently 3-5 and in 3rd place in the NFC East. Prescott signed a record-breaking 4-year, $240 million contract just hours before the season opening win against the Cleveland Browns.
Prescott has thrown for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
With Prescott out, backup quarterback Cooper Rush is the expected starter right now, but there is also an opportunity for former 3rd overall pick Trey Lance could also see the field.
The first game without Prescott will be going up against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Don’t cross-post a Cowboys story and call it a Mississippi State story.
