The Mississippi State Bulldogs lost a big part of their offense during spring camp when it was announced that junior WR Malik Dear had suffered a torn ACL.

ACL injuries can take as long as a year and a half to recover, but Dear is reportedly making a quick recovery so far.

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen said during SEC Media Days on Tuesday that Dear’s recovery has been going very well and he may be ready to play at some point during the 2017 season:

Dear played in 11 games last year, recording 23 catches for 264 yards and two touchdowns. He was expected to take a big step forward this season in the absence of star receiver Fred Ross.

Obviously, the junior’s 2017 plans took a big hit with the ACL injury, but it sounds like he may be able to contribute at some point this fall, which is great news for the Bulldogs.
