Mississippi State band members didn’t waste an opportunity on Saturday during the football game to troll Vanderbilt about their baseball programs and finish in the College World Series. At Vanderbilt, the State band members wore national championship baseball hats during the football game.

Vanderbilt won the regular season series in Nashville in the spring, but State rebounded to win 2 of 3 in the College World Series in June in Omaha. It was the Bulldogs’ first-ever national championship.

State relied on the pitching duo of Will Bednar and Landon Sims to hold the Commodore offense to just one hit and allowed only 5 base runners in the clinching game to post the eighth shutout of the season.

The band had plenty to enjoy on Saturday, too, as State rolled 45-6 as Will Rogers passed for 4 touchdowns in a career-day for the Bulldogs’ quarterback. It was the most touchdowns he’s thrown in a game, and he threw for 386 yards in the win.
