ESPN’s Tom Luginbill believes No. 17 Mississippi State will upset No. 11 Georgia on Saturday in Athens.

The national college football analyst said as much during a recent appearance with Frank Frangie on “The Frangie Show” on 1010XL Jax Sports Radio.

Luginbill is a big-time believer in State’s quarterback, Nick Fitzgerald, and said he expects him to cause fits for Georgia’s defense.

“If you’re Georgia, the biggest thing you’re concerned about is now you’re going to have to contend with a quarterback in Nick Fitzgerald that’s not a thrower and not just a runner,” Luginbill said. “He’s a dynamic playmaker. He can do it all. He’s the focal point of their offense, so that’s a lot to prepare for.

“This is going to be the first test against an opponent that brings some real challenges to the Georgia defense,” Luginbill said.

He also noted in the interview with Frangie that he’s “going with momentum” in this game. It’s hard to find a team in college football with more momentum, as State is coming off a 37-7 win over then-No. 12 LSU.
