Former Mississippi State DB Brandon Bryant applies for NFL supplemental draft
Coming off a big redshirt freshman campaign, Brandon Bryant appeared poised to become one of the defensive leaders for Mississippi State in 2016. That goal never materialized and unfortunately, Bryant’s career never even came to a satisfactory conclusion in Starkville.
Following the staff changeover this offseason at Mississippi State, Bryant did not practice with the team in the spring. He later announced his transfer from the program. Now, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Bryant has applied for the upcoming NFL supplemental draft. Bruce Feldman of the Athletic has also reported the news.
If you are unfamiliar with the supplemental draft, NFL teams have the opportunity to select players in Rounds 1 – 7 but forfeit that selection in the upcoming draft if used. So if someone were to take a flyer on Bryant and select him in Round 5 of the supplemental draft, that team would lose its Round 5 draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Considering his elite athleticism, there’s a chance Bryant is selected in the supplemental draft. The former MSU defensive back made NFL.com’s fastest players list as well as most freakish athletes list last offseason.
A date for the upcoming supplemental draft has not yet been set at this time.
Two more notable names expected to apply for entry to the NFL supplemental draft, per sources: former Mississippi State DB Brandon Bryant and former Western Michigan CB Sam Beal. Both have draftable talent.

Word is former #MissState safety Brandon Bryant is expected to apply for the NFL Supplemental Draft. Freaky athlete who MSU coaches once clocked at 4.24 in the 40. Had some struggles academically and withdrew from school in the spring.
