A former Mississippi State target is officially back on the market.

Chris Parson, a 4-star quarterback and the No. 7 overall prospect from the state of Tennessee, decommitted from Florida State Tuesday, per his official twitter account.

“Florida State has been my favorite school since I was a little kid,” Parson wrote in the post. “I spent a lot of time imagining myself wearing the uniform, but the reality of needing to be in the best place that suits me for my college career has led me to look elsewhere. I wish Coach Norvell and the Seminoles the best moving forward, but I am decommitting from Florida State and reopening my recruitment.”

Parson committed to Florida State over Mississippi State and SMU in July of 2021. The Bulldogs still lack a quarterback commitment for the 2023 class and could use Parson’s athletic ability in head coach Mike Leach’s air raid offense moving forward.

Parson is considered to be the No. 16 quarterback in the country and the No. 328 prospect nationally.
