Mississippi State WR Fred Brown has been dismissed by the university for a violation of the school’s honor code, according to a report from Bulldogs beat writer Michael Bonner.

The report does not specify what the violation of the honor code may be, but the Mississippi State athletics department has confirmed Brown’s departure.

Brown missed last weekend’s scrimmage due to what Mullen referred to as a “family matter”, according to Bonner.

Brown caught 27 passes for 412 yards and three touchdowns last season, and was expected to return as a complementary weapon to No. 1 receiver Fred Ross.

It is a significant loss for the football program, as the Bulldogs try to maintain their potent passing attack following the departures of QB Dak Prescott and WR De’Runnya Wilson.
