Mississippi State recently received some good news looking ahead to the 2021 season as veteran defensive back Fred Peters has announced he will return to Starkville for another season in a Bulldog uniform.

Peters was listed as a senior for Mississippi State last season but thanks to the NCAA’s decision to give all players a free season of eligibility in 2020, the defensive back was eligible to return for another season in Starkville.

The best part is, all returning seniors will not count against their respective program’s 85-man scholarship limit during the 2021 season.

Last season was Peters’ best season to date in a Bulldog uniform, as he posted a career-best 20 tackles last fall. Peters also started four games last season and earned his first career start this season in Starkville.

The defensive back has two years of experience at Mississippi State after transferring in from Jones County Junior College. Peters is joined by fellow seniors Scott Lashley (offensive lineman) LaQuinston Sharp (offensive lineman) and JaVonta Payton (receiver) as Bulldogs that all recently made the decision to return for another season for the Bulldogs.

Mike Leach’s team was playing its best football by the end of the season and these decisions should only fuel the Bulldogs to more success on the field in 2021.
