Jeff Lebby will have a friendly face in the SEC when he takes over a head coach at Mississippi State.

Lebby previously worked under Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss as an offensive coordinator before taking the job at Oklahoma, and now the two will be in-state rivals. In Kiffin fashion, Lebby got a warm welcome on social media on Sunday after his hire was announced.

Lebby knows Kiffin well, so when he saw the troll job on social media he wasn’t surprised.

“I’ve seen it through text messages. I haven’t actually seen it on Twitter,” Lebby said in his press conference Monday. “Believe it or not, I’m not incredibly surprised and I’ve got a feeling it’s not going to be the last. This is gonna be fun, that one is gonna be a lot of fun.”

The Egg Bowl rivalry is setting up to be all the more interesting now with Lebby at Mississippi State. Lebby was on staff at Ole Miss in 2020 and 2021, and now he’ll go at it with his former head coach.
