Jeff Lebby has reportedly hired a well-respected offensive line coach to join his staff at Mississippi State.

According to Football Scoop’s John Brice, Lebby is bringing Arkansas offensive line coach Cody Kennedy to Starkville to serve as offensive line coach. Brice has coached at Arkansas under Sam Pittman since 2021.

Kennedy is highly-respected as one of the best up-and-coming offensive line coaches in the country. It will be the third SEC program he has coached for — he worked under Kirby Smart at Georgia as a graduate assistant in 2018.

In 2021, Kennedy was a semifinalist for the Broyles Award, which recognizes the top assistant in college football. He helped lead Arkansas to one of its best offensive seasons of all time thanks in part to the play of his offensive line in 2022. The Razorbacks had 6,128 yards in 2022 — the second-most in Arkansas history.

While he brought in a new coach in Kennedy, Lebby has elected to retain several members of Arkansas staff, like wide receivers coach Chad Bumphis, who was a standout player at Arkansas. As the offseason continues, Lebby’s staff will continue to come together more.
