Jeff Lebby is only worried about what the expectations are inside the building than outside.

At Monday’s introductory press conference, Lebby was asked about the expectations for 1st-year head coaches and the overall roster at Mississippi State.

Lebby said that the team is going to be in a race to make themselves the best that they can be before next year’s season opener.

“I don’t know if I should talk about what the expectations should be outside the building. I know what the expectations are for myself and the players inside the locker room, and that’s to be as good and fast as we can possibly be,” said Lebby. “We’re truly gonna be in a race against ourselves to see how good we can get before the first time we walk out into a stadium on a Saturday afternoon.”

As for the roster, Lebby said that the coming days will be important in figuring out what kind of team Mississippi State has. Meeting with the players has everything to do with connection for Lebby.

“These next 3 days for me before things settle down and we hit the road will be really important for me in a knowledge standpoint of where our roster is at,” said Lebby. “That’s what gonna happen these next few days with getting on the phone with all these recruits and understanding exactly where we’re at with these guys and also with meeting with every single guy on our team. The player meeting for me has nothing to do with football and everything to do with connection.”
