Jeff Lebby is heading to Mississippi State. The Oklahoma offensive coordinator and QB coach was named the head coach of the Bulldogs on Sunday.

Lebby is the 3rd coach of the Bulldogs in as many seasons. The program was rocked by the death of Mike Leach in 2022 prior to their bowl game, with defensive coordinator Zach Arnett promoted to the position. But Arnett was fired 10 games into the 2023 season with the Bulldogs holding a 4-6 record.

Now MSU turns to Lebby, an offensive mind with previous stops at UCF and Ole Miss before joining Brent Venables’ staff at Oklahoma. The Sooners are 4th in FBS in total offense and 3rd in points scored, after finishing 13th and 33rd (respectively) in those departments in 2022.

Can Lebby help Mississippi State gather momentum and take the Bulldogs to heights they haven’t seen since the 2010s? It will be interesting to see how he shapes the program both in the coming months and in future seasons.
