Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons had a message for the preseason haters on Saturday.

He called out the “doubters” in Vegas for listing the Bulldogs at 2-10 this season. Based on over/under win totals, one sports book had State winless in the SEC.

Mississippi State’s over/under win total was 5, and that number was lower than the over/under totals for 10 of its opponents. By that criteria, the Bulldogs were “projected” to go 2-10.

Instead, the Bulldogs finished 9-4 overall and 4-4 in the SEC, which the soon-to-be junior defensive lineman had no trouble pointing out on social media.

“Thanks to all the doubters! 2-10 oh okay! We had a great 9-4 season,” Simmons said on Twitter. “Thanks to our fans for believing in us! #HailState.”

On Saturday, Mississippi State capped off its season with a 31-27 victory over Louisville in the TaxSlayer Bowl.

State has won at least six games in every football season since 2009, so it’s understandable that Simmons would take offense to a 2-10 projection.
