Former Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott could be out a little while longer for the Dallas Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones said Monday that the star quarterback isn’t ready to play yet.

Specifically, Jones said Prescott can’t grip the ball without feeling pain. When asked if he can grip the ball following an arm injury, Jones replied “No, not well enough to play.”

Prescott suffered a broken bone in his hand just over 3 weeks ago and has been out since. He’s run into several injury problems in his time in Dallas.

Cooper Rush has taken over and played well for the Cowboys in Prescott’s stead. Rush has thrown for 737 yards and 4 touchdowns so far this season, leading the Cowboys to a 3-1 record.

It seems there is no reason to rush things.
