In a surprising move, the Las Vegas Raider have released former 1st-round pick Johnathan Abram.

Abram, a former Mississippi State and Georgia safety, has played 4 solid years in the NFL after being drafted by the Raiders with the 27th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. According to PFF’s Ari Meirov, the Raiders attempted to trade Abram but were unsuccessful, leading to the cut.

Georgia played 1 year with Georgia in 2015 before transferring to Mississippi State, where he played in the 2017 and 2018 season. Upon being drafted he has been a solid player for the Raiders and has totaled 48 tackles with 1 pass deflection.
