WATCH: Johnathan Abram called out by Jon Gruden for being too physical in Raiders practice

The Raiders drafted Johnathan Abram in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft due in part to the defensive back’s incredible physicality. However, there is a limit to how much Oakland wants to see that in practice.

If you are a Mississippi State fan and missed the first episode of HBO’s latest “Hard Knocks” series, you may want to catch up as Abram was a central focus of the debut episode of the new season.

The moments that captured Abram’s journey during through his first NFL training camp experience weren’t all good though as the rookie from Mississippi State had to be called out by Jon Gruden for being too physical in practice. Before the pads were even put on by the Raiders, Abram was on the practice field creating contact. It was pretty clear the veterans on the team didn’t appreciate it.

Gruden wasn’t pleased, either, as you can see in the clip below:
