Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald is a special talent, and he has surpassed former MSU star Dak Prescott in one area.

Prescott, QB for the Dallas Cowboys, is arguably the best player ever to suit up for the Bulldogs. Prescott holds many career records for MSU including total yards of offense (11,897) and total touchdowns (114).

Fitzgerald, a junior, is now chasing those same records. He is already up to second on the Bulldogs all-time list for total touchdowns with 55, but that is still a long ways from Prescott. Still, Fitzgerald has been fantastic as a starter, and he is on par with Prescott’s numbers through their first 16 starts in terms of touchdowns.

SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic shared the numbers on Twitter:

Catching Prescott’s career numbers would be an incredible accomplishment and seems nearly impossible, but it would be unwise to write off Fitzgerald just yet.

MSU is up to No. 17 in the AP Poll and is getting set for a tough matchup against No. 11 Georgia in Athens Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7 pm EST on ESPN.
