Kalvin Dinkins is staying in Mississippi and headed to Starkville. The 3-star defensive lineman chose the Mississippi over Baylor, Southern Miss, Arkansas State and Air Force.

Dinkins, who is the 247Sports Composite’s No. 28 prospect in the state of Mississippi, at first had picked Southern Miss before flipping later to Mississippi State.

Dinkins explained why he committed to Mississippi State, via 247Sports.

“I’ve been there this season for a game and I went to summer camp there, too,” he said. “I enjoyed it when I was there and they’ve been in contact with me since the summer. And the relationships got better once they offered me.”

Relationships with the Bulldogs coaching staff also made a difference.

“I like their defense and I like how Coach Phelps gets his guys going,” he said last week. “He wants his defensive linemen to make plays and to not rely on the linebackers to make the plays. Coach Arnett is really cool, too. He is a down-to-earth guy and he is real funny.”

Dinkins obviously was swayed by the State coaches and their commitment to him.
