Mississippi State has been looking for an offensive spark in 2023, and in the first half of Saturday’s SEC road showdown against South Carolina, the Bulldogs may have found just that.

Lideatrick Griffin — who entered the game with 13 receptions for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season — put together an electric first half, with 4 receptions for 205 yards and a touchdown.

Trailing 14-0 at the top of the second quarter, Mississippi State QB Will Rodgers connected with Griffin on a beautiful 65-yard touchdown pass that gave the Bulldogs a much-needed spark. Griffin has played a major role in helping Mississippi State even the score 14-14 at halftime, with a 33-yard reception, a 47-yard reception and a 60-yard reception on top of his electric touchdown score.

It shouldn’t be a surprise for Bulldogs’ fans to see Griffin produce in such a major way. The senior entered the season on a bevy of watch-lists for 2023 after finishing 2022 with 40 receptions for 502 yards and 4 touchdowns while cementing himself as one of the most productive kick returners in the SEC.

If Mississippi State is going to pull off the upset on the road, expect Griffin to be a major part of the second-half game plan.
