A Mississippi State off-field staffer is leaving for the GM position at USC.

Dave Emerick, who has a long history working with Mike Leach, announced his departure on Twitter.

“I have had the privilege of working for Coach Leach for 18 years from Texas Tech to Washington State to Mississippi State,” Emerick wrote. “We have had a lot of great times and have on a lot of games along the way. I can honestly say that I would not be where I am today without him, and I am forever grateful for the impact that he has had on my life.

“While I firmly believe that Mississippi State Football’s best days are right in front of them, it is time for me to take on a new adventure. I am excited to be joining the staff at USC as the General Manager/Senior Associate Athletic Director for Football.”

Emerick held the title of Senior Associate A.D./Football at Mississippi State. According to his MSU bio, Emerick oversaw all of the Bulldogs football recruiting efforts, while also working closely with senior administration as it related to the program.

Emrick followed Mike Leach to MSU after 8 years as Leach’s Leach’s chief of staff and senior associate athletics director at Washington State. He also held a similar position on staff at Texas Tech working for Leach’s program.
