Mike Leach chose the perfect GIF for his first tweet as Mississippi State head coach
Social media helped Mike Leach land the Mississippi State job. So it’s not surprising that it didn’t take long for Leach to get on Twitter following his arrival in Starkville, Miss.
What was Leach’s first tweet as the new Bulldogs head coach? Well, when he arrived on campus, he had a cowbell in his hand. He kept with that theme on Twitter, as his first tweet on Thursday was a GIF from the famous “More Cowbell” sketch that aired on “Saturday Night Live” in 2000:

Leach is active on Twitter — and it’s not always related to college football or the team he is coaching — so there are sure to be many more great tweets to come during his time at Mississippi State.
Many SEC fans have always enjoyed following Leach on social media, even though he had never previously been a head coach in the conference. He was at Texas Tech from 2000-09, then Washington State from 2012-19.
Now that Leach’s first tweet is out of the way, the next thing to look forward to will be his first press conference at Mississippi State. And if his past interactions with the media are any indication, then it should be an entertaining one.
