Mike Leach nearly falls at awards ceremony, then gives hilariously optimistic response
Mike Leach seems ready with a one-liner or monologue at any given situation, and that includes nearly tripping and busting it at an awards ceremony.
That was the case on Tuesday night when he caught up with Trey Mongrue of WLBT, who simply asked the Mississippi State coach if he was OK following the near fall. What came next was classic Leach. He said he thought it was a step, but because he has “lightning-quick” reactions, Leach recovered and prevented something worse, like a catastrophe.
“I reacted as I’d seen my players react, in that split second, I thought to my self, ‘What would my players have done in that situation,” he said. “And then immediately it mobilized and I was fine. I tell you what, that just shows, if you spend time with great people, who are doing great things, some of it will rub off on you. Because that was better than I deserve. Because a lot of people would’ve eaten it in that situation. But not me. I was blessed by the people that I get to deal with every day.”
Mike Leach nearly tripped and busted 20 seconds before this (sorry, camera wasn’t rolling), but naturally my first questions was if he was ok.
What came next was what we’ve come to expect with #LeachUnfiltered.
