Mike Leach praises Mississippi State QB Will Rogers’ work ethic

Mike Leach hasn’t formally named Mississippi State’s starting quarterback but he isn’t shying away from praising incumbent starter Will Rogers.
Leach is impressed with the work ethic Rogers has displayed entering his second season with the Bulldogs.
“He’s constantly watching film,” Leach told reporters after Friday’s practice. “Constantly texting with questions and observations. He works off the field maybe more than anybody on the team. Coaches’ kids are like that. They’re used to being around film. I imagine when they sit down to dinner in the Rogers’ household, besides pass the potatoes, they probably talk about football. That’s probably beneficial.”
Rogers started MSU’s final six games, leading the Bulldogs to victory in the Armed Forces Bowl. Leach said he sees a difference in Rogers this fall camp.
“I think leadership, he’s come a long, long way, as far as elevating the play of others,” Leach said. “He’s more consistent than he was starting as a true freshman without a spring. There’s plenty of progress to make, some of it is getting tuned in with your receivers.”
