The Liberty Bowl on Tuesday against Mississippi State and Texas Tech will be full of narrative, and it surrounds the man that will be leading the Bulldogs into their 12th straight bowl appearance.

Mike Leach helmed the Red Raiders program for 10 seasons but was axed after the 2009 season following an investigation into the infamous Adam James incident. Leach subsequently filed a wrongful termination suit against the university stating that the firing was not “for cause” as originally stated and that he is owed $2.5 million.

During a press conference on Monday, Leach promised that he would continue to fight for what he feels he is entitled to, no matter how long it takes.

“[I’ll fight] forever,” Leach said, according to USA TODAY. “Why not? I mean, what do I got to lose? I don’t have anything to lose. I mean, they cheated me out of $2.6 million, plus four years remaining on my contract.”

If anything, it will add further motivation for Leach and his squad on the field against the Red Raiders. Kickoff from Memphis is set for 6:45 p.m. ET on ESPN.
