Mississippi State is losing a handful of key players to graduation and the NFL draft, but the program is getting a boost of depth for spring practice with four early enrollees.

The Bulldogs revealed Tuesday that offensive tackle Charles Cross, quarterback Garret Shrader, safety Fred Peters and offensive guard LaQuinston Sharp will all be with the team throughout the spring semester. Cross and Shrader are both 4-star prospects, while Peters and Sharp received 3-star grades from recruiting services.

Having Cross and Sharp present will be crucial because depth in the trenches often gets tested during the spring. Perhaps the most high-profile early enrollee for Mississippi State is Shrader, a dual-threat talent who should spice up the quarterback competition following Nick Fitzgerald’s departure.

All four players will have a chance to get integrated into Joe Moorhead’s system after he guided the Bulldogs to an 8-5 record and a finish just outside the Associated Press Top 25 in his first year with the program.
