Mississippi State and Ole Miss will battle it out for the Golden Egg in front of a packed house at Davis Wade Stadium. MSU announced Wednesday that this year’s Egg Bowl is officially sold out.

In 2020, the rivalry clash was played on a Saturday. It has since moved back to Thanksgiving. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m./7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, with the game airing on ESPN.

MSU won last year’s meeting in Oxford, 24-22. It would be the last game coached by the late Mike Leach.

Zach Arnett was hired as Leach’s successor, but his tenure ended before the Egg Bowl. Arnett was let go earlier this month, and Greg Knox is serving as the interim head coach. Knox is 3-1 all-time as an interim head coach, including a 2-0 mark with MSU. If Knox can make it 3-0, it would be his most celebrated win as the head Bulldog.

Mississippi State is hoping to secure a bid to a postseason bowl game. At 5-6 on the year, the Bulldogs need to pull off the upset to claim a spot. Ole Miss enters the game ranked No. 12 with a 9-2 record.
