Like many college basketball coaches around the country, Chris Jans is learning that his new job comes with the task of reshaping the roster.

A pair of Mississippi State forwards will look at continuing their college basketball careers elsewhere. D.J. Jeffries and Derek Fountain have reportedly entered the NCAA transfer portal.

If Jeffries transfers out, it would be his second time changing schools. The Olive Branch (Mississippi) product joined the Bulldogs after 2 seasons at Memphis. In 2021-22, he played in 34 games (31 starts), averaging 1.9 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 8.9 points on 42.3% field-goal shooting over 28.1 minutes per game.

Fountain has been with Mississippi State for 2 seasons. This past season, he played in 25 games, making 3 starts. Fountain posted averages of 2.3 rebounds and 3.4 points on 34.1% field-goal shooting over 8.4 minutes.
