Mississippi State won a key recruiting battle on Wednesday.

3-star defensive lineman Jonathan Davis announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on National Signing Day.

He’s already signed with Mississippi State as well. Here’s the program’s announcement:

Davis is a Mississippi native who went under-the-radar until the past few weeks. He earned offers from Mississippi State and Ole Miss in late January and ultimately decided to go with the Bulldogs.

He’s listed at 6-foot-5, 305 pounds. He attends Lawrence County High School in Monticello, Mississippi.

Davis is the No. 526 overall player and the No. 57 defensive lineman in the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 9 player from the state of Mississippi.

Mississippi State is now up to 27 signees in the class of 2023, including 12 who have already enrolled in Starkville. The class ranks No. 25 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
