Mississippi State opens Year 2 of the Mike Leach era at 3 p.m. local time against Louisiana Tech on Saturday on ESPNU in a game where the Bulldogs are more than 3 touchdown favorites.
The program dropped a hype video ahead of the season opener and on it, Leach has several comments, including, “We will compete no matter what.”
“The point of this offseason is to make this team the toughest team on Earth that we possibly can,” he said. “Recovery starts where you finish, you have to get better and better and better.”
The school also announced a revamped gameday experience:
Mississippi State Athletics announced today a brand-new, in-stadium experience this season for fans – a CUE Live-powered, crowdsourced light show for “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey. The new element inside Davis Wade Stadium is due to a new relationship between the Bulldogs, Specialty Orthopedic Group and Cue Audio.
Between the third and fourth quarter, Bulldog fans can participate in the light show by using their smartphones and CUE Live technology to enhance the experience of “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey. The app creates a synchronized pulse from the flashlights and LED screens of fans’ phones to the beat of the song.
To participate, fans should download the Hail State app from the app store on their phone prior to the game. Once the lights go down and a PA announcement is made, fans just have to open the app, click the menu icon and then select Bulldog Lights. CUE technology does not require cellular service, Bluetooth or a Wi-Fi connection in order to work.
“We will compete no matter what.”
