Mike Leach’s program added its fifth recruit of the Class of 2022 with a pledge from outside linebacker Khalid Moore of Poplarville, Mississippi.

The 6-foot-2, 205 pounder announced his commitment to the Bulldogs over offers from Louisiana Tech, Navy, Ole Miss, South Alabama, Southern Miss and Tulane among others. He explained his decision to 247Sports. Moore is the second-highest rated commitment in this class. He’s a 3-star prospect and rated the No. 32 outside linebacker in this class in the country, and the No. 12 player in the state, according to the 247Sports Composite.

“One of the main reasons that I chose Mississippi State was because they were my first Division I offer,” Moore said. “They didn’t offer me, because somebody else did. They believed in me and they offered me, because they really wanted me. Ever since they offered me, they have been in touch with me every day. They have made me feel like I am important to them and the class.”

He made the decision following a visit to campus.

“My family and I decided to take a visit up there yesterday,” Moore said. “The campus was beautiful and everything looked really nice. They had the baseball game going on, so there was some excitement on campus. I liked it all and so did my family. When we got home, we talked about everything. We just felt that Mississippi State was the right place for me and that it was time for me to make a decision.”
