Mississippi State has picked up another commitment for the 2021 class from an in-state cornerback who has drawn plenty of SEC-wide interest.

M.J. Daniels is a 3-star CB from Lucedale, Mississippi (George County), who is 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds. He is ranked the No. 27 cornerback in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 6 player in the Magnolia State. Daniels has a reported 12 offers, including seven from SEC teams.

His message on Twitter was “I’m staying home.” He also thanked God, and his parents, coaches and teammates for “pushing me all these years, and making me the player I am today.”

With the Daniels addition, Mississippi State now has 19 commitments, and is ranked No. 10 in the SEC, and No. 32 in the country. Although Daniels is listed as a cornerback or an athlete, there are four other cornerbacks or safeties in the 2021 class for Mike Leach’s program.

According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, Daniels is a one-time Ole Miss verbal, and strongly considered the likes of Arkansas and Texas A&M before settling on the Bulldogs.

Daniels told head coach Mike Leach and his staff this past Monday he was coming.

“It’s kind of like a family tradition for us,” Daniels said.
