The 6-foot-3, 215-pound backer is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports, and he’s ranked as the country’s No. 26 over inside linebacker and the state’s No. 18 overall prospect.
“Growing up a (Mississippi) State fan my whole life, it has been my dream to go play there,” Johnson told 247Sports. “I’ve seen some great players run out of that tunnel like Bmac (Benardrick McKinney), Dak (Prescott), Cam Lawrence and Richie Brown. Now I have a chance to do that. Plus, it feels like family there because I grew up there and it’s home for me.”
Johnson recorded 119 tackles, including five for loss during his junior season.
