Mississippi State’s spring game included multiple missed field goals. Evan McPherson believes he can help fix that problem for the Bulldogs.

The Fort Payne (Ala.) High School product pledged to the Bulldogs after the game.

McPherson, who is rated the No. 1 2018 kicker by Chris Sailer kicking and Kohls kicking (per 247Sports), also has offers from Kentucky, Miami, Nebraska and other schools. He told 247’s Paul Jones that he likes the proximity of Starkville to Fort Payne, Ala.

“It’s just the atmosphere there and it is similar to my hometown,” he said. “It is close enough to home where I can go home if I need to see my family or friends. So that was a factor. Plus, my family and friends can come see me play, too, with no big travel issues. The main thing is that I just feel comfortable at Mississippi State.”
