Mississippi State is headed to Tampa for the postseason, as it learned on Sunday.

The Bulldogs were named to the ReliaQuest Bowl, which was formerly the Outback Bowl, at the start of the week to face the Illinois Fighting Illini.

This is the 13th consecutive year that Mississippi State will go to a bowl game, something that few teams have accomplished.

The team finished out with an 8-4 record, going 4-4 in SEC play. The Fighting Illini finished out the season with that same 8-4 record, recording a 5-4 conference record that put them in second place in the Big 10 West. This will be the first time Illinois has played beyond the regular season since 2019 when the team lost to the California Golden Bears in the Redbox Bowl.
