Mississippi State narrowly missed being ranked in the Top 25 of the AP and Coaches polls.

Following Saturday’s 45-20 win over Louisiana Tech, the Bulldogs increased their vote totals, but barely missed joining five other SEC teams in the AP Top 25 and six SEC teams in the Coaches Poll. In both polls, Mississippi State collected the most votes of anyone not appearing in the Top 25.

On Saturday, Louisiana Tech jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, but Mississippi State (5-2) responded with 31 of the next 34 points, and pulled away for a 25-point victory.

Dak Prescott threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns — two to De’Runnya Wilson and one to Fred Brown — and ran for another score to lead the Bulldogs to a non-conference victory.
