Mississippi State OF Jake Mangum thanks Mets for drafting him, wants to leave Bulldogs with a title
Mississippi State OF Jake Mangum became the SEC’s all-time hits leader this year, and he has been a star for the Bulldogs for the past four seasons.
On Tuesday, the New York Mets drafted Mangum in the fourth round (No. 118 overall) of the 2019 MLB Draft, and he’ll join their farm system as soon as the Mississippi State season is over.
However, on Tuesday evening, Mangum thanked the Mets for drafting him, but said he’s not ready for his season to be over just yet:
Thank you to the @HailStateBB family for an amazing 4 years. Thank you to the @Mets organization for letting me live out my dream at the next level. With that being said, we have unfinished business left in maroon and white! See you Saturday at The Dude #HailState #LGM

Mangum and the Bulldogs will host Duke in the super-regional round, which is a best-of-three series. The Dude is sure to be packed with fans hoping to see the home team advance to Omaha.
