One of the key staff members on any football roster is the strength coach. In charge of the weight training program that builds stamina and strength conditioning for teams, fourth-quarter success can be pointed to the work done in the weight room.

Mississippi State has opted to promote Nick Savage to replace Rick Court, who left for Maryland, The Clarion-Ledger reports. Savage was the assistant strength coach with Court and took the job on an interim basis in the leadup to Mississippi State’s Belk Bowl win.

The Bulldogs will still have some positions to fill. Defensive coordinator Manny Diaz just took the defensive coordinator job at Miami, rejoining Mark Richt. Mississippi State has other positions to fill on the defensive side of the ball.

This important staff position though is filled and Mississippi State can get to its offseason workouts to build off a bowl win.
