Mississippi State leads Auburn in battle of unbeatens
Midway through the fourth quarter in Starkville, No. 3 Mississippi State leads second-ranked Auburn, 38-23.
After going three-and-out on their first possession, the Bulldogs have cashed in on two turnovers and converted a short field after a punt into points to take a 21-0 lead with 6:05 left in the opening quarter.
De’Runnya Wilson has a 34-yard touchdown reception, Josh Robinson’s scored from a yard out and Dak Prescott charged into the end zone on a 2-yard burst for a quick punch in the mouth.
In its third straight game against a Top 10 team, Mississippi State’s outscored those opponents 49-7 in the first quarter.
A pair of field goals and a touchdown pass from Nick Marshall to Duke Williams in the second quarter helped Auburn pull within eight point before Prescott’s scoring scamper with 3:58 left in the first half pushed the Bulldogs’ advantage to 28-13.
Williams’ second touchdown reception of the game late in the third brought the Tigers within eight.
