Mississippi State sees multiple players enter transfer portal after coaching change

Mississippi State’s firing of Zach Arnett opened a 30-day window for Bulldog players to enter their name into the portal database. The next window for entry opens to all undergraduates on Dec. 4, giving Mississippi State players the opportunity to get their names out there before the portal is flooded.
The portal database added a trio of Bulldogs on Wednesday. Players are able to withdraw from the portal, but programs do not have to guarantee their scholarship after entry. Tyson Schilling, a former JUCO wide receiver, announced his entry. On3 reports RB Simeon Price and WR Jacoby Bellazar have also entered the portal. Bellazar confirmed the news with a repost on X (formerly Twitter).

While the promotion of Arnett provided defensive stability, the Mississippi State offense underwent a drastic change. After winning the ReliaQuest Bowl with Mike Leach’s staff shortly after the coach’s passing, Arnett parted with most of Leach’s offensive assistants. Arnett ditched the Air Raid, hiring Kevin Barbay to run a more balanced offensive system.
With coaching changes in back-to-back seasons, one can expect a lot of outgoing and incoming transfers for Mississippi State.
